چکیده

Fresh beef and meat products have been implicated in outbreaks of Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) worldwide. This study investigated the prevalence E. O157: H7 non-O157 STEC serogroups fresh open market street vended (n = 180) Lagos metropolis, Nigeria. A combination culture media immunomagnetic separation followed by typing for associated virulence factors serotypes was performed. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing performed on isolated using disk diffusion method. total 72 serogroup isolates were detected from 61 out 180 samples. The O157 beef, suya, minced tsire with 20.8% while all Molecular revealed 25% 18) showed presence stx1, stx2, eaeA, fliCH7 rfbEO157 54.2% 39) possessed a two genes. Multidrug resistance discovered 23.6% 17) serogroups. Locally processed ready-to-eat Nigeria harbour potentially pathogenic multi-drug resistant that can constitute public health hazard.

Prevalence, Molecular Characterization and Serology of Shiga toxin-Producing Escherichia coli Isolated from Buffaloes in West Azerbaijan, Iran

This present study is the first to report the presence of Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) in buffaloes in Iran. A total of 360 fecal samples were collected from buffaloes from different regions in the west Azerbaijan province of Iran and cultured for the isolation of E. coli using routine biochemical tests. From the fecal samples, 340 E. coli were isolated and, of these, 26 STEC i...
